3rd Place Winner, 2023

I was honored to reach the finals of the Antalya Decora competition with my project Hygge81.

This nationwide Spanish competition featured over 100 participants, including both individual designers and collaborative teams, all challenged to create an innovative open-space concept integrating Pando appliances and Cosentino materials.

Through multiple judging rounds, Hygge81 advanced to the final stage among Spain’s top design talent.

Nordic-Japanese Interior Synthesis

Hygge81 proposes an open-plan space (living room-kitchen-dining area) for the national brand Antalia Cocinas competition. Unifying Scandinavian and Japanese design philosophies, this interior contrasts cool and warm finishes while creating a welcoming atmosphere through thoughtful lighting.

A dwelling in the heart of London, United Kingdom, conceived to convey wellbeing and harmony throughout each of its spaces.

A space that offers material contrasts and generates a welcoming, versatile environment — cultivating distinct atmospheres within a single setting.

Dark materials like walnut wood, stainless steel, and Cosentino porcelain with dark marble-inspired tones create tension against warm elements. Light linen curtains, Japanese-inspired wallpaper, plush velvet upholstery in the living area, and herringbone flooring in warm-toned wood.

The name derives from the word hygge (hỳge) — a concept embodying cozy contentment, intimate gathering, and pleasant togetherness, evoking feelings of wellbeing and satisfaction.

This intersects with the number 81, Japan’s international code.

A floor plan that reveals not only the spatial layout, but also visualizes the various lighting accents throughout the open-plan area and how these complement the selected materials.

Hygge81 offers that intersection of clean-lined Scandinavian and Japanese architecture — a space that cultivates a pleasant environment for living.
